The Drawing and Painting Department is the oldest department (since 1965) and occupies a unique position in the history of Sahu Ram Swaroop Mahila Mahavidyalaya. The department seeks to provide extensive range of training with the use of the most modern techniques and facilities. In the past 40 years, thousands of students have passed through these doors to excel in varied streams of art and have made successful careers for themselves. The training at SRS Drawing and Painting Department not only makes students’ successful as a painter but also helps them in establishing a career in the fields of Design Commercial, Sculpture, Interior Decoration and Art Teaching. The postgraduate students can also avail dissertation (a minor research work) as a part of their curriculum.
It offers both undergraduate and post graduate programmes in Painting. The department stresses on optimum interaction with standard art activities all over the state, encourages students to participate in national level competitions and organizes workshops quite frequently. The Department has an Exhibition Hall where exhibition of the paintings of reputed national painters and sculptors are held. The teachers and students of the department have participated in various national Art Exhibitions. The department endeavours to produce professionals with creative thinking who can play a positive role in society.
